The Youth Summit Team has identified key messages and asks for the specific audience of leaders and decision makers that will be present at the Provincial Summit. They refined the messages and asks from a huge collection of barriers, benefits and opportunities they identified over the course of our two Generation Action Youth Summit meetings.

The Generation Action Youth Summit has been incredible so far, but now the youth summit team needs your help to make their vision a reality! The youth summit team believes in the power of youth and they believe in the power of their voices speaking out for the activity opportunities all youth need to be healthy. But, they don’t want to stop at just their voices being heard.

We need to tell one another good job when we choose to be active. We need to remind each other of the benefits of activity for our health, nicer communities and [...]

When I heard there were going to be new physical activity guidelines for Canada my first question was, why? Turns out the old guidelines were simply outdated. The new guidelines were developed because of all the new research that has been conducted recently. This new research allowed the scientists to make more specific recommendations about physical [...]

Being physically active didn’t seem that important to me. However, being on the Lieutenant Governor’s leadership forum changed my whole perspective. On the forum, my fellow participants and I were expected to run, jog, or walk every morning for an hour. At first I wasn’t looking forward to going out at 6:30 AM to go walk, but it wasn’t long before I got used to it. I began enjoying these walks, and I realized how much energy it gave me throughout our very busy days. I wanted to become an ambassador, because now I understand the importance of being physically active.

I’ve never been a big gamer, but that may be about to change. ..They are calling it “Full Body Gaming” huh? The website says: “Controller-free gaming means full body play. Kinect responds to how you move. So if you have to kick, then kick. If you have to jump, then jump. You already know how to play. All you have to do now is to get off the couch.”
