It’s Earth Day today, which is awesome. Any opportunity to turn the world’s attention to the intensifying situation on our planet is good. I personally see being an “environmentalist” and physically active as two intertwined things. So on Earth Day when the focus is so vast and overwhelming, and you’re just looking for some way to participate on a smaller scale here is an idea for you.

Today is a huge day for me. Recently I made a decision that will massively affect my whole life. It’s scary and intimidating for sure. At the same time it’s exciting, bold and in great ways life altering.
Here’s the deal; I decided to buy a bike and adopt it as my main means of transportation. If you’re thinking whoa that’s a pretty big thing to take on.. you’re right!
Today was day 1, and the benefits of choosing active transportation are clear…

October is International Walk to School Month (IWALK) the premier event of the Active and Safe Routes to School Program. Today, October 7 is IWALK day for this year! If you’re physically able and your school is walking distance away, why not participate? Not only is it healthy for you, it is also an example of Active Transportation in action! It’s ok if you didn’t know it was IWALK day and you missed your chance to be a part of it because from October 5-9 its IWALK week!
